Garmin Nuvi GPS devices are used in cars. They locate the satellite signal in order to determine the location and then give directions to your next destination. You may not be able to see where you are going or even enter the address of your next destination if the nüvi screen does not work. If this is the case, you should have the screen replaced.
Instruction to replace the screen on a Garmin Nuvi
1 Read the warranty information provided with the Garmin Nuvi. The company does not sell screens for their products separately, so you have to send the device to the company to have it replaced. This will be covered by the warranty if you have had the device for less than a year and if the screen has not been damaged by you.
2 Look for the cost of replacing the screen if the device is not covered by the warranty. Go to the “out of warranty” Garmin website page and select the specific model from the drop down menu to see the repair rate.
3 Call +1-844-441-2440 to talk to a Garmin technical support representative. Explain that you need a screen replacement and ask to be provided with a “Return Material Authorization”, or RMA, number, as well as a “Dock Door” number. Write these numbers down.
4 Arrange a payment method with your Garmin representative before hanging up. Your payment method will need to be registered.
5 Submit your Nuvi to the company to obtain a screen replacement. Insure the package in case it is damaged during transport and include a copy of the receipt if the replacement will be covered by the warranty. You will be sending to the device of Garmin International, 1200 E. 151st Street, Olathe, Kansas 66062. You need to write the RMA number and “Dock Port” number on the outside of the package before shipping so that the device can be easily recognized. Once it is received, Garmin will replace the screen and send the device back to you.
